To eat or not to eat that is the question?

February 24th, 2009

Living in a country where fast food and restaurants prevail, it’s no wonder that Food inspection services and Food qualities play an important role. Everyday hundreds of thousands of people, go to a fast food restaurant on their lunch break and indulge in the quick, cheap and filling meal. But are these places really that safe? Not to mention the restaurants most of us go to on weekends with our families. Sanitation is important to stop the diseases from spreading. These diseases range from just simple respiratory problems, to life threatening ones. Restaurants have a challenge that just comes from within them.

First there’s cleanliness and food safety it seems everyday another horror story in the news about contaminated food products. Restaurants get shut down daily by the Health Department. Word of mouth seems to be the fastest the bad news spreads. The media reports cases of food poisoning on a daily basis in spite of the fact that the fast food business is growing and growing by the day. It seems fast food has become the American way of life. Of course everyone believes in this business with the expectation that the food has been prepared in sanitary conditions. From bugs , to breeding bacteria, food restaurants especially have countless issues behind closed doors. The rules of food quality are put into place and enforced by, inspectors, the Food and Drug Administration, and much more.

The most common causes of food poisoning is bacteria transfer. This of which is due to food not being properly cooked or even kept at the proper temperature. With such a high demand for food, it is often all too easy for employees to compromise their duties for time saving sakes. Before they know it, they’ve served a meal that carries a high risk of food poisoning. The rules should be followed every time, not some of the time, as is unfortunately sometimes the case. This is one more reason why it’s better not to under staff your restaurant. You must ensure that your expectations of your employees are reasonable, and hold that you hold regular training programs.

Taking a few hours out of a day between meal times to conduct a food safety drill will go a long way to promoting healthy etiquette. Dropping in for a spot check every now and then will be effective as well. To stop your employees from resenting your surprise inspection, a good manager will show up ready to help out for an hour or so during the shift, especially if it is the busy shift. This will give you an opportunity to set a good example to your employees as well as boost morale. So remember don’t cook something you wouldn’t want your family to eat too.

Portable Sinks, a Daycare’s Dream

February 19th, 2009

Daycare can be a hot spot for kids who enjoy getting dirty amongst friends and potentially spreading unwanted germs. Many times daycare providers provide additional activities for their children that only add to the potential mess such as arts and craft time. Along with these special activities, one cannot overlook the untidiness that comes along with meal time. In order to keep hygiene levels at a high level while maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility, daycares should have portable sinks readily available. Having hot and cold water at their disposure is a great way for daycare providers to keep everything extremely clean. If an accident were to happen, the child can be taken directly to the sink to minimize the issue without leaving the other children unsupervised. There are many portable sink options on the market today that can fit any daycare’s needs. From a single to multiple basin style portable sinks, the daycare can find a tool that can be very useful at reducing potential disasters. Finally, to keep the children from getting sick and passing around colds, the portable sink provides a place for children to wash their hands on a regular basis and kill germs that may spread easily.

Address the Mess with a Portable Sink

February 19th, 2009

An all time favorite activity for many young preschoolers is arts and crafts time. In order to make to their first official masterpiece a success, it takes a good amount of supplies that tend to make the whole class a mess. Once art time is over and it is time to move on with reading, what is the teacher to do with a class full of students that used their skin as a canvas? The obvious resource would be the schools lavatory, however at times getting that many children down there efficiently can be a pain. With these aspects in mind, a pre-schools best option is to have a portable sink located in the classroom. Having a portable sink gives everyone the opportunity to clean up right there without having to drag the chaos out into other areas in the school. In addition, should a spill transpire, hot and cold water can be readily available to address the accident. Having  portable sinks inside the classroom can also give the teacher the proper forum to discuss and teach proper hand washing and hygiene while giving the students a fun opportunity to try themselves.
